From the mouths of politicians

"I don't think it had to do with religion, but my mom raised me to go to church on Sunday" -- South Carolina Representative Nathan Ballentine on why the state's blue laws should not be repealed.
For those fortunate enough to not know what a blue law is, check out the Wikipedia entry. I can remember back in Texas in the late 70's that one way to buy just about anything on Sunday was to show it would be used in a funeral . . .

I also remember the Wagon Wheel, which was a large successful nightspot because of it's ability to sell alcholol on Sunday at all. When they changed it to before noon, the Wagon Wheel's popularity plummeted...and it became a haunted building. (That people KEEP setting fire to...)
Personally, I think it's goofy to have laws like that. But hey, if it means I can buy office supplies at drug stores...it's cool in the past.
