I think it's a good step :) LJ has grown away from what it once was.

Aye, it has. I'm not going to switch over myself unless/until there's a mass exodus from LJ, but I definitely want to keep this as an option just in case.

Welcome. I hope that we early users will be able to keep this group moving in the right direction, rather than along the overly-commercial route that the original LJ took once it got into the hands of SixApart.
