Well, we're eight episodes into the second season now. Unlike the first season, the members of Torchwood aren't hanging onto the edge of their sanity, aren't jarringly disfunctional in the face of alien horror, and frankly, haven't been as interesting. This season's episodes have been pretty inconsistant, more The Men In Black Saturday Morning Cartoon instead of a developing storyline that you'd care about. With a mostly gratuitous gay subtext, naturally (it *is* Captain Jack, after all), but mostly a lot of shallow flash instead of meaty substance.
Episode eight is one of the high points so far. No spoilers, but it is one glaring (and unneccessary) plot hole away from being one of the top episodes of any TV show I've seen. One of the Torchwood crew is having ... issues, multiplying from earlier episodes. The episode opens with that crewmember and a random stranger, having just met atop a tall building where they're both contemplating taking that long step off the roof into eternity ...
(And BE WARNED - spoilers may pop up in the comments.)
