There was a recent competition to produce artwork - including trailers - for a non-existent movie based on Greg Bear's Eon. The competition is over, but a winner has not yet been announced.

Here's some of the entries that caught my eye (WARNING: high bandwidth. Pause the player after it starts and let it load completely before actually trying to play the files.)

and my favorite (though it's a monster of a file) -

Unfortunately, none of 'em are *quite* hot enough to make me go see the movie if I hadn't read the book. I'm getting picky in my old age.

Suddenly that movie will become 'existant' and the competition entrants will find their work being used without any credit ,payment or legal recorse.

I won't enter competitions of those kind especially after reading the rules, in which there usually is a clause buried saying that 'all entries becoume our property'

If only I could remember the book after having read it... It was one of those books that seemed to take a major plot turn every chapter and eventually I just lost track... Combine that with many years of books and work and family in between, and I might just go see the movie as a refresher course.

{gryn} I'd re-read Eon a little over a year ago, so it was still fresh enough to remember.
