Pasco Count, Florida bans Christmas trees from public buildings.
The last of the Christmas trees were removed Wednesday after the county attorney said they were religious symbols, said Dan Johnson, assistant county administrator for Public Services.

The American Center for Law & Justice said the decision was based on a flawed understanding of the law. Senior counsel Francis Manion said Christmas trees are legally considered a secular symbol for the observance of a national holiday: Christmas.

I though someone had pointed me to another branch of the Landover Church parody network, but this column is serious. It's apparently a follow-up to a previous column that proclaimed Scott Peterson as innocent, with the true criminals being an amorphous Satanic cultist group that's behind over 10,000 disappearances in California each year. This column backs off the 'innocent' claim, saying that the cultist angle should have been investigated more carefully.

The column also manages to suggest that ren faires are non-Christian hotbeds, posing with nekkid women is non-peaceful, all Satanists are intellectuals (and vice versa), Wiccan priestesses and Satanic priests quickly convert to Christianity upon sharing the Gospel with them, the author is "privy to suppressed police reports including ... details completely withheld from the media" and the author is in fear of her life for having written a column exposing all this.

The best quote by far is this one: "Did Geraldo completely make up all those cult stories and if so, why is he still a respected journalist?"

I'll do my best John Cleese imitation and say, "You're a loon."
