I'll admit. I cried a little when I found out. Her books were a substantial part of my life as a young girl.

I'm quite saddened to hear that. I read several of the Pern novels and enjoyed them, and "The Ship Who Sang" also stands out in my memories as one of the earlier sci-fi stories I read — one I liked a lot, too, as evidenced by the fact I still recall it.
