One step forward, one step back

ysengrinFinally broke down and pulled my G15 keyboard to clean it. Yes, beard hair does collect under the keys.
The main reason I did it was to try and get the "L" key to recognize repeated keystrokes better; it was to the point that I had to take a full beat between the two L's in words like llama. The step forward is that it's better, but still not as responsive as the other keys.
The step back is the LCD is now dead; the constant flexing of the flat printed-copper-on-plastic ribbon cable rendered it brittle enough to snap across when I open up the keyboard. That means I've lost my handy little clock.
So, yes, one step forward and one step back.
