The Quickie Report on FC2010
26 Jan 2010 08:17 pmThe con was wonderful. Gave me the recharge I needed, got to meet up with folks in the fur that I hadn't before (including one who shares the name of one of my old characters -- snugs
silvermane3), and got to match up human faces with their furry faces (honestly, this was the only time I've ever seen Tzup or Nekomon out of suit). 386 photos on the camera, I'll sort out the misfires and try to get them up ASAP (yes, I do have pictures of a certain clouded leopard before he asks). Took a lot of photos in the Dead Dog dance and out front afterwards.
Picked up two pieces in the art auction: Sandra SanTara's The Lovers and Rukis' What Lies Within, both large prints. The Lovers was a surprise to
dark_fang as it had gone for the buy-it-now price in the art show; he didn't know I was the one who put that bid in :)
Got some prints (including a small one of What Lies Within, in case the one in the art show went for more than I could bid); got some art magnets and made some contacts for future commissions. DarkFang hinted that we should have more artwork, so I felt I could budget a bit for some.
Spent around twenty hours across three days in suit, overheated once (I need to suit more). Our hotel room was so humid that I couldn't ever get the suit to dry out, even with a high speed fan on it -- which was the main reason I didn't suit for the Dead Dog. Three-plus days worth of damp werewolf was not something I wanted to inflict on folks.
I managed to miss several folks I wanted to meet up with (as usual).
I was tagged in an elevator by
whiteyfawks to sub on a fursuit panel, but we were both rushing and I didn't get details. Left contact info with con-ops, but apparently Whiteyfawks never got it so that fell through :(
I do want to give Whiteyfawks and the MFF staff a big wolf hug; I had to cancel MFF at the very last minute, but they still made up a care package for me that Whiteyfawks delivered at FC. I held off opening it until I got home from FC, and it really did bring a tear to my eye. Thanks, y'all.
The con was expensive, or at least the hotel was. Glad we came in when we did and left when we did, but next year is going to take some serious rethinking on our part.
I started feeling off last night (which is why I kept butchering your name,
aeto). By checkout this morning I was definitely ill, and I can now say that I have con crud as I type this, having transformed into a fuzzy-headed feverish mucus factory. At least I stopped and got Theraflu on the way home.
Snuggles to everybody else that I didn't mention. Again, this was a great con, and it was good to see all of y'all :)
