The Central Church of God in Charlotte, North Carolina, has withdrawn from the Loaves & Fishes program (it feeds the hungry) and the Charlotte Rescue Mission. Why? Because one works with Roman Catholics and because the other allows Muslims to serve meals.
If you hold that salvation is based on faith alone, you still show your faith by your deeds - "I will show you my faith by my works." If your faith isn't secure enough that you can't do good works just because the person working next to you doesn't totally share the details of your faith, then *you* have a problem. Explain to your flock that it's not the works that provide salvation - if that's what you believe - and show by example that your faith will survive contact with people who don't totally agree with it (or even completely disagree).
You don't live in a vacuum. Learn to play nice with others (even if you think they're going to hell).
"As a Christian church, we feel it is our responsibility to follow closely the (principles) and commands of Scripture," minister of evangelism Shannon Burton wrote in a letter to Loaves & Fishes.
"To do this best, we feel we should abstain from any ministry that partners with or promotes Catholicism, or for that matter, any other denomination promoting a works-based salvation."
