Just heard on a national (NBC) special report - "The DOW closed just under 500 points." Just that as a complete statement, delivered with a casual seriousness.
Of course, after my heart started again, I realized that the reporter left a "down" out of his statement, and that he didn't mean "The DOW closed AT just under 500 points."
Down 500 points in a day isn't good news, but it's not the utter catastrophe a drop of over 10,000 points would be. The DOW actually closed at 11,383.83
