 | 02 December 2012 Dragon Feet Front Scales The big overlapping scale plates for the front have now been added. This is just the start of the finer detailing. There are more large scales for the back of the foot, some medium overlapping scales to add, and a whole bunch of smaller scales. Ysengrin made three quick press-type molds to make the individual scales used since the scales were too big to uniformly cut from a roll of clay. Location: In the workshop |
This is where it really gets to be fun :) The scales are about 1/8" thick, and I made a couple of two-part ultracal molds to press clay into to make the scales. I also made a cutout in 1/4" cardboard to press clay into to make the really big plates at the top of the leg, making the ridges by hand. The central ridges were part of the ultracal molds for the smaller scales.
