Guild Wars 2

There is a rumor that GW2 - tenative release date around the end of 2009 - will offer Charr as a playable race. Public beta possibly next year.

Rumor also says that the upcoming GW expansion will be the last one (at least until GW2 is released).

Both are rumors at this time as the source doesn't have any backup (yet), though they claim the info is from GDC 2007.

As an aside, I wish we had the spare time and cash to attend GDC - but it's a hobby and business calls ...

More update issues

Before, I had hassles with Adobe ... this time it's Quicktime. It all seems to stem from installing a new drive a few months ago, since the software is tied to a particular machine. Just like with Adobe, the quicktime upgrade hangs on deleting the old install (which still works, thankfully) because the generated key with the new drive doesn't match the key for the existing install from the old drive. I don't have time to dig through the registry to fix it right now, so it'll have to wait.

*grumbles* I have absolutely no desire to do a wipe & reinstall of windows, either, which would certainly fix it it.
