And interestingly, recently up here the SCC ruled that the Government of BC violated worker's basic rights when they tore up the contracts for teachers and health workers right after the BC Liberals were elected into office.
The SCC decided that this violated the worker's right to bargain. Why didn't it violate basic contract law? Well - it did! But the BC Liberals just passed a law that made it legal.
