Jesus struck by lightning, arm blown off

The nuns at Mother Cabrini Shrine in Golden were thanking God on Sunday that no one was hurt when a bolt of lightning shot out of the sky and struck their 33-foot statue of Jesus.

The lightning bolt broke off one of Jesus' arms and a hand and damaged one of his feet, sending marble plummeting to the ground during a Saturday afternoon storm.

And, of course, the disclaimer. Seeing JC's face in burnt toast is a sign from God, but ...
Don't look for any religious symbolism here - it was only a freak act of Mother Nature, says Sister Ilaria.

Read about it here.

Kinda of reminds me of the actor that played Jesus in Mel Gibson's movie, where he got struck by lightening while filming the cross scene.

Maybe God didn't like the artist...or just got sick of having marble statues of Jesus all over the place...Or maybe IT'S THE DEVIL! *laughs* Oh sometimes a toast is a toast and lightning is attracted to the shortest route to the ground, in this case a 22 foot tall statue.

The Shrine is also on top of a mountain, so it's not surprising with a big "grounding point" like that would attract lightnin. (It's about fifteen miles from where I'm sitting as I write this)

Holy Smoke, Sister Ilaria!

why is it never a negative sign? I mean I would take that meaning Jesus didnt like the damn statue and take it down.
