Kinect and mocap ...

Homebrew, via RichWhitehouse ... now, if there's a way for the Kinect (rather, the NiTE skeletal software) to start tracking a user other than assuming the "touchdown" pose ...

FC cheaper parking (not hotel valet)

For those driving to FC this year, here's the cheap parking garage next door to the hotel -- that's the actual entrance to the structure, elevators let out on the side facing the hotel.

EDIT: View the map because LJ mangles the include code.

Finally posting about the pictures of the week... for the next several posts.

Thanksgiving Fireplace

First fire in the fireplace at the new house. Small achievement, but still nice.

Location: 37° 45' N, 121° 27' W

This one's been up for a while, but I never posted about it. This was the first time we had a fire in the fireplace (and, apparently, the first time in quite a while there had been any fire in the fireplace).

Lance Pope -- 1984

Lance Pope on TV, talking about the second season of Haunted Verdun Manor and special effects back in 1984.

Location: Peppermint Place, WFAA studios, Dallas, TX

Yep, that anniversary came around again. Still miss him, and wonder what Thrillvania would be like if he was still here.

I apologize for the quality, this is a screencap from a second or third generation VHS tape (Lance let me copy it back when we were in Forney). Lance was being interviewed by Mr. Peppermint (Jerry Haynes) and Muffin the Bear (a puppet); he had come on stage in Ralph, his first full-body werewolf, and popped his head for the interview.
