Tornado on the ground yesterday, funnel cloud (no touchdown) today, both well north of us. Thunderstorms here earlier today and yesterday.
I like being out where you can actually see storms boiling up -- reminds me of Texas :)
EDIT: and in typical Californian fashion, the local news is going ga-ga, giving us live footage of the news anchors surfing around in Google Earth trying to find buildings that might have been in the path of the funnel today (if it had touched down). Slim pickings, since it's out over farmland.
EDIT THE SECOND: Storms still must be unusual around here -- the radar the local station is using is pretty primitive compared to what I was used to seeing in Texas a decade ago. Guess they don't have the need to spend the bucks for advanced radar out here :)

Date: 2011-03-22 12:53 am (UTC)It was pretty scary when we had a tornado warning in my area back in '05. Those things seem attracted to kind of house I live in, and I was staring down the logistics of fleeing with an an invalid family member at the time.
The only thing more scary were those tsunami warnings last week.
